by Slamurai Jack and M’Damn Death Rae

Dagger Dolls vs Rockits

The Dolls fought hard against the Rockits in the first bout of the night. Dolls set the tempo with 18 points scored by spaz cadet early in the first half. Returning fire in the next jam, the Rockits sent Dreidel Robber to the jammer line and she racked up 13 points to put the score at Rockits 15, Dagger Dolls 20. The Dolls kept the heat on the Rockits. Taking advantage of a power jam, Jacked Pipes put 15 more points on the board for the Dolls. The Rockits’ 4-wall and tripod defense kept things tight the rest of the first half, which ended with a score of 58 Dagger Dolls, 41 Rockits.

The Rockits were down a skater in the second half as Madrad suffered an injury that kept her out the rest of the game, but that was evened out by the Dagger Dolls who lost Kung Pow Bitchin’ to ejection because of an illegal hit against Manila Ice. The Rockits tried to keep the Dolls at bay in the second half with Dreidel’s dancy toe stop work on the outside line getting her lead jammer and scoring quick points over and over again. The Rockits’ and Dolls’ defense were evenly matched. The Dagger Dolls’ backwards bridging kept the Rockits working hard to make headway. Scarmen Hellectra knocked out and drew back the Doll’s jammers multiple times. Surly Bird’s reverse blocking on the tripod defense locked the Dolls in place.

Thanks to a 24 point jam by spaz cadet early in the second half and an 11 point jam by Ova Achieva, the Dolls had a solid lead that the Rockits couldn’t catch up to. Final score: Dagger Dolls 149, Rockits 78.

Atomic Bombshells vs Garda Belts

In an explosive first jam, Brickyard blasted her way through the pack, earning 14 points right off the bat for the Atomic Bombshells. But the Garda Belts wouldn’t stand for it, and stopped the Bombshells from scoring any points for the next three jams. Sarin Dipity brought an early lead change soon after with an 18 point jam for the Garda Belts, bringing the score to Garda Belts 24, Atomic Bombshells 14.

The Bombshells quickly bounced back, with another 14 point jam, tying the score, 28 to 28. The Garda Belt’s grasp on the lead soon slipped away, thanks to the Bombshells careful blocking strategy and high scoring jams. By the second half, the Bombshells 48 point lead made it look like they had the game in the bag. However, Bri Zuss took quick advantage of Freeze Baby’s penalty box time, scoring a crazy 31 points for the Garda Belts, the highest scoring jam of the night. The score was Atomic Bombshells 111, Garda Belts 92, and it was anyone’s game.

After a night of struggling against the impressive walls built by Garda Belts Crust Almighty, Scootaloo, OCDevious, and Brutal Brit, the Bombshells sent out Brickyard in the final jam to secure the win. She quickly gained lead jammer, and let the clock run out while Bombshells were ahead. After a hard fight against the Garda Belt’s strong blockers, Bombshells earned their second win of the season, with a final score of Atomic Bombshells 168, Garda Belts 144.
