Athletic Background:

Norah Torious didn’t get involved in many sports during her formative years, but tennis was her game of choice. Her mom taught her how to play using a McEnroe woodie when she was 10 and she took things from there, going on to play on her high school team in both singles and doubles. (There was also a short stint on the softball team, but we won’t talk about that since it mostly involved tracking stats.)

Norah was a late-bloomer with athletics. Biking became a larger part of her life in her mid-20s and she’s now done the Minnesota MS150 seven years in a row. Broomball was the next thing she picked up and she’s been playing that for nine years with a variety of teams. While playing that, she realized that hitting people and knocking them down was fun - real fun.

So when derby came to Minnesota in 2004, she signed up with a friend. Never having thought of herself as an athlete before, she’s been surprised by all the physical challenges that are surmountable. She now realizes her inner athlete was always looking for the right game to play; derby is that game.

Bio:

Norah grew up in small-town central Minnesota and has lived in the state her whole life. She got a BFA in Graphic Design from UMD and laughs at anyone who says “wasn’t it so cold up there?” Traveling is one of her favorite things to do. She saves up money to go to destinations - new and old - around the globe and has been to 11 countries on four continents. L’Escala (north of Barcelona) is her favorite city so far. Someday she hopes to go on a bicycling tour of northern Spain.

Norah has always been and will always be a Dagger Doll. She loves her team with all her heart and is grateful each day for all that derby has brought to her life.
