Bout Recap: Hook Line and Sink Her Recaplet: MNRG takes out Old Capitol, Miss Quitos overcome the Loon-a-Ticks

The MNRG All-Stars defeated Iowa City’s Old Capitol City Roller Girls in their first bout in official, sanctioned play as a WFTDA member league. The MNRG defeated Old Cap 362-58, scoring strongly on power jams and holding OCCRG back from cracking the pack in the opening fifty minutes of the bout.
Meanwhile, the MNRG’s four home teams put on the first of their double-team mixers, with the Miss Quitos (Rockits/Garda Belts) overcoming early setbacks and taking advantage of jammer penalties by the Loon-a-Ticks (Atomic Bombshells/Dagger Dolls) late in the game. Final score Miss Quitos 96 – 67 Loon-a-Ticks.

New school defeats old in league-wide battle, 116-80

The Minnesota RollerGirls took to the track in a familiar bout on March 31st as the league’s veterans (playing as the “Mayo Clinicians”) attempted to go 2-0 against those newest to roller derby (the “State Fair Foodies”). After falling behind in the first half, the Foodies outscored the veterans 85 to 12 in the second to win the match 116-80.
