Tournament Recap: No Cinderellas Here; Minnesota’s road to the Finals (part 2)
September 26, 2010
“Minnesota became the biggest Cinderella since Kansas City in 2007 and Rocky Mountain last year. Announcement: Some words with Ump: the North Central Referee Clinic (August 8th)
August 15, 2010
It’s Day 2 of the North Central regional clinic on a hot August day, and it’s clear that every ref here - caravaning from every corner of the region - has been soaking in each minute of time spent together. All that focus makes them look more tired than the players, and those players are playing five of every six jams to give the refs a chance to work together.

Saturday’s match between the Atomic Bombshells and Garda Belts took an unexpected turn even before the first jam had begun. L’exi-cuter could not make the match due to outside obligations. At this point in the history of the Minnesota RollerGirls, no one expects a player to take a swipe at a rival. The final league mixer of the ‘09-10 season brought together the four home teams for one last mashup. Bout Preview: Rebout, rebout, rebout…Saturday, Saturday, Saturday
February 23, 2009
The MNRG home teams return to the Temple of Derby, the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, on February 28th for the “Circus of the Scars.” This will be a big night. You’re going to see the newly-dominant Garda Belts and the Red Menace that is the Rockits work to sew up their reservations for April’s season championships, and the other two must put their back in it to beat the odds.
Bout Preview: Derby on the 24th
January 21, 2009
When last we left our heroines, both the Garda Belts and the Rockits had gained a march on the Atomic Bombshells and the Dagger Dolls. On Saturday, the winners of the previous bout switch opponents; our Girls in Green take on the Dollies, while the Red Menace go toe-stop-to-toe-stop with Mitzi and Misfit’s Bombshells. And the opportunities are rife.
Bout Recap: A glorious mess
December 10, 2008
A lot of new blood in the Dolls. This isn’t exactly a surprise; the Dolls have welcomed some great players into the fold in the last two years, and the new crop…well, I guess we’ll see. The first looks are promising. But let me get to the Garda Belt/Atomic Bombshell game.
