Roller Vortex: Minnesota Nice Brake Road Warriors 214-39

The Minnesota Nice, B-team of the Minnesota RollerGirls All-Stars, made their Roy Wilkins debut Saturday night in the opening bout of Roller Vortex. Matched up against the Road Warriors, B-team of the No Coast Derby Girls from Lincoln, Nebraska, the MN Nice dominated from start to finish, earning a 214-39 victory.
Practicing with the Minnesota RollerGirls All-Stars has clearly rubbed off on the Minnesota Nice, as they contained the Road Warriors’ jammers with solid four-walls all night. The Road warriors were held to just 14 points in the first half and scored more than 4 points in a jam only once during the second half. Chew Bokma was the leading scorer for the Road Warriors.
In addition to tenacious blocking, the Minnesota Nice showed off a deep roster of jamming talent, employing 9 of their rostered 12 skaters as jammer. One after another, Rhea Volt, Dreidel Robber, Tegan N. Scare-Ya, Soft Serve, Madame de Stompadour, Naughty Kitty, Messi Jigler, Sagittearitup, and Moto Fluzzi evaded No Coast’s blockers for a pile of points and only two jammer penalties in the entire match.
Despite their excellent show of team unity on Saturday, the skaters of the Minnesota Nice will be re-assembling into their home teams in only two weeks, competing against each other for the Golden Skate in the tenth annual Home Season Championship on April 19th.
